Teach JA Personal Finance to high school students

When:
Throughout the school year

Where:
Many high schools available in Duval County

Details:
JA Personal Finance focuses on earning money; spending money wisely through budgeting; saving and investing mondy; using credit cautiously; and protecting one's personal finances. Learn more about JA Personal Finance.

Teach JA It's My Future at Mandarin Middle School

When:
Starting immediately. It is an A/B Day schedule; volunteer will teach every other day.

Where:
Mandarin Middle School, 5100 Hood Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32257

Three Time Slots:

  • 11:40 AM - 1:20 PM
  • 1:20 - 2:50 PM
  • 2:50 - 4:10 PM

Details:
In JA It's My Future, students learn about career clusters, high growth jobs, career planning and creating a personal brand. There are 6 sessions total. Learn more about JA It's My Future.

Teach Junior Achievement lessons at Daniel Academy

When:
Starting immediately and taking place on early release Wednesdays (contact us for specific dates)

Time:
2:30 - 3:30 PM

Details:
Two classes available. Teach JA Our Families and JA Our City to students. It is a one hour commitment every other week for 5 sessions.

Reverse Job Shadow at Gregory Drive Elementary

Details:
3rd, 4th, 5th grade. Traditional job shadows bring students to the workplace. JA's Reverse Job Shadow brings the workplace to students! As a volunteer you are given a table to set up your display: signs, posters, brochures, products – anything you wish to bring. Dress as you would for a work day – don't hold back! Students visit each station on a rotational basis, asking questions and learning about the different types of careers presented. Details:
Teach JA Career Success to Mandarin High AVID students (Advancement Via Individual Determination). JA Career Success equips students with the knowledge required to get and keep a job in high-growth industries. Students will explore the crucial workplace skills employers seek but often find lacking in young employees. Students also will learn about valuable tools to find that perfect job, including resumes, cover letters, and interviewing techniques. Learn more about JA Career Success.

Details:
Teach JA Our Families to first grade at Hogan Spring Glen Elementary. JA Our Families explains how family members' jobs and businesses contribute to the well-being of the family and of the community. The program introduces the concept of needs and wants and explores the ways families plan for and acquire goods and services. Details:
JA Company Program is part of a blended learning approach that offers groups of students the opportunity to understand the steps involved in launching their own businesses while learning the basics of entrepreneurship, financial literacy and business success.
