Junior Achievement of Kansas annually honors members of the Kansas business community who have shown an ability to be successful not only in business, but in their commitment to the local community and the state as a whole. We hope to inspire young people to follow in these talented businessmen and women's footsteps.
Laureates are prominent business leaders who have made extraordinary contributions to their communities and have earned the respect of their colleagues. They demonstrate business excellence, courageous and visionary thinking, and inspiring leadership. Posthumous leaders may be honored.
An independent selection committee from each JA of Kansas district selects the laureates using the selection criteria as a guide. The selection committee includes individuals who have themselves excelled in business, as well as past Business Hall of Fame laureates.
JA Bowling Classic Bowl-A-Thon Challenge
The JA Bowling Classic Bowl-A-Thon is a series of weekends full of fun, games, bowling and camaraderie. This fundraiser encourages members from the business and education communities to ask friends, family, colleagues and coworkers to support Junior Achievement with donations. Top fundraisers compete for prizes, and everyone gets together to enjoy an afternoon or evening out while supporting the Junior Achievement of Kansas mission. In 2014, more than $100,000 was raised to provide programming to the children of Kansas.
The Bowl-A-Thon is part of Junior Achievement's national fundraising event, which has more than 120,000 individuals and 4,500 businesses participate nationwide every year.
Junior Achievement Beach Ball Benefit Auction
Held in mid-February, the Beach Ball is a fundraiser for the Lawrence-Douglas County district, which serves more than 5,000 children annually. Attendees are encouraged to throw off their midwinter blues and put on their best beach ensembles and enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while bidding on a range of items donated by the Lawrence-Douglas County community.
