JA Volunteer Opportunities

Capital One/JA Finance Park
(all simulations run from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm)

Finance Park helps middle and high school students build a foundation of intelligent and personal financial decision making skills through an experiential, real-life simulation.  Students visit Finance Park after completeing a 4 week, teacher taught JA course.  When they arrive on site, students are assigned a life scenario- including a job, salary and family situation, to use as the basis of their simulation experience.  They will learn how to construct and adhere to a personal budget, including housing, food, savings, transportation, utilities and various other bills.  Volunteers will receive training at JA from 8-9am.

Trust Your Crazy Ideas Challenge

The Brees Dream Foundation has partnered with Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans to help foster the next general of entrepreneurs in New Orleans. Students are introduced to entrepreneurship through JA Be Entrepreneurial. Next, 20 teams of High School students are selected to be a part of the JA Idea Accelerator Workshop Series: an eight week workshop held at Junior Achievement starting in January. The Challenge culminates with a pitch competition at New Orleans Entrepreneur Week, presented by The Idea Village. Students have the opportunity to win $10,000 in continuing education funds (with a $5,000 grant to their school) and be named State champion.
