About Junior Achievement in Mobile

Junior Achievement of Mobile has reached 73,113 students in 3,128 classrooms since 1999. Reaching over 4,000 K-12 students annually in the Mobile and Baldwin County area, JA connects members of the business community with the classroom to teach experiential, hands-on curriculum.  Programs focus on workforce readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship to cultivate success among students and increase the relevancy of their education.  JA students engage in constructive activities, covering topics such as defining the difference between needs and wants, budgeting skills, workplace ethics, application of entrepreneurial thinking and skills, and running a business.

Schools in our community look to Junior Achievement to provide supplemental learning experiences that help young people develop the competence, confidence, and character to make smart academic and economic decisions.  Junior Achievement programs are offered in a variety of grades in both public and private schools in Mobile and Baldwin County. We also offer opportunities for Job Shadow events for high school students to visit companies to see work in action.  In 2019, we started our first Business Plan Challenge for high school students interested in pitching their business ideas for a chance to earn cash prizes.   Our outreach expands in the 2019-2020 school year to reach more high school students and grow our Business Plan Challenge to reach more students.
