JA BizTown-JA Finance Park | Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass

JA BIZTOWN® AND JA FINANCE PARK®

BizTown Finance Park

In partnership with the Fayette County Public Schools, Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass has transformed approximately 13,000 square feet of Linlee Elementary School into an exciting, state of the art facility where students from throughout Central KY will come to experience a living lesson in economics, community, and financial literacy.

JA BizTown® is a community unlike any other¬—one where kids take charge by running businesses, earning paychecks, voting in elections and donating to philanthropic causes. This unique program designed for 5th grade students engages them in the roles of workers and consumers in a series of classroom lessons that culminate in a visit to our fully-interactive simulated town.  Our thanks to Veterans Park Elementary for allowing us to film their day in JA BizTown®.

What they are saying...

"My favorite part of JA Biztown® was the fact that on breaks you could just relax at Papa Johns or you could go shopping and you didn't have to go where your parents want to shop. I hate it when I have to do that!!! I just loved JA Biztown®. I loved writing checks, swiping cards, and being an adult! The only frustrating part of JA Biztown® was my job. I worked as a Development Director at the Philanthropy Center! For my job, I had to walk around and ask the C.E.O's of each business for donations. It was hard for me to understand how the businesses needed to print out checks to pay the Philanthropy Center. But after I figured it out, my job seemed pretty easy. I just plain loved JA Biztown® and hope I can visit again!!!"

"Just think about how amazing it will be to have a JA Biztown® and JA Finance Park® right here in Fayette County to enhance the work already happening in the classroom. The new facility will not replace JA's classroom components already in place; it will only add more opportunities for students to connect what they learn in school with what they need to succeed as adults."
