Junior Achievement COVID-19 Information and Resources

At Junior Achievement, we have always been an organization that is looking toward the future, and while our current traditional programs have been suspended, we can still continue doing just that, even now. We believe in the power of vision, and we believe now, more than ever, that although today might be uncertain, the future still holds incredible possibility. So let's focus on the future together.

How is Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas responding to COVID-19 regulations and recommendations?
Currently, Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas has responded to all Federal and State mandates and recommendations surrounding the COVID-19. Our programs have been suspended, both in classrooms (as all our partner school systems are currently closed) and on our TowneBank Opportunity HQ campus. Our staff is working remotely, and carefully monitoring all COVID-19 developments. We are working closely with our school systems and community partners. As always, our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and the communities we serve. At this time, Junior Achievement will continue to take the lead from our academic partners. We are following the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local health agencies, and will make all necessary and timely changes based on their updated information.

I was signed up to volunteer with Junior Achievement this Spring. How do I know if my date has been cancelled?
All current Junior Achievement programs have been suspended at this time. All dates through the end of March have been cancelled. If you have been scheduled as a volunteer, and your event has been cancelled or postponed, we will be contacting you via e-mail.  It is our goal to be responsive and nimble at this time and we are working closely with schools to reschedule all our classroom programs, JA BizTown, and JA Finance Park events as soon as possible.  If you have any questions, you can also reach out to our Volunteer Manager, Karson Freeman, and she can offer more guidance and direction.
My student was supposed to attend JA BizTown/JA Finance Park this spring. How do I know if their date has been cancelled?
To comply with Federal and State mandates and regulations, all currently scheduled 2020 JA BizTown and JA Finance Park dates have been suspended during this time.  All dates scheduled through the end of March have been cancelled. We will work with our school partners once they are back in session to reschedule as many dates as possible for the remaining school year. Your child's school should be in touch if a new date is scheduled, and if you were planning to be a chaperone or community volunteer, we will also be contacting you via email.
I'm homeschooling my student(s) while school is closed, and I need resources for them to study. Is Junior Achievement offering anything digital for us to use?
For the first time ever, Junior Achievement has released its library of digital resources for you and your family to use for free. You can explore videos, downloadable lesson plans, activities, and more surrounding subjects like ethics, money, business and career. Resources are available for all ages, and you can explore them all, for free on our temporary Virtual Resources page, which will be updated regularly in the coming weeks with additional links.
Is Junior Achievement still hosting JA Summer Camp?
As of today, we are still planning to host our summer camp program and as a parent, you are encouraged to sign up as we focus on the future together! Click here for our on-line registration.  Given the current situation, we are also planning to expand our dates deeper into July and August to serve families, and so watch for additional dates to arrive on our website soon.
Is Junior Achievement still hosting its Spring Golf Classic?
Junior Achievement is still planning to host our SPX Flow Spring Golf Classic but has moved the date to June 8, 2020.  You can stay updated on our website by clicking here.
Is Junior Achievement still hosting my company's Bowl-a-Thon?
Junior Achievement is still planning to host a number of company Bowl-a-Thon Events and would love for you to join.  Should you have a desire to conduct a company wide Bowl-A-Thon, please contact Jessica Dominguez for more information.
When will Junior Achievement's TowneBank Opportunity HQ reopen to students? How is JA making it safe for students?
Our campus has also been closed since March 20th and we expect to be closed for several weeks at least, in compliance with current regulations.  Our hope is to open our facility as soon as possible later this spring, and resume our services to students with a fresh, clean and sanitized facility that will be safe for everyone. During our time away from the office, and as many companies work from home, JA is maintaining its partnership with its cleaning company, who is sanitizing the entire campus.  We have put protocols in place to disinfect all surfaces to include floors, all equipment, counters, windows, doors and any "high touch" point. In addition to our space being cleaned and sanitized, once our campus reopens, JA plans to continue its ongoing sanitizing and hand washing protocol to keep all our students, volunteers and team members healthy:
  • All volunteers, students, parents and teachers will wash hands with antibacterial soap upon entrance to our facility.
  • We will continue with a no-hand shake policy until further notice
  • All students will be mandated to wash hands at meal times and after
  • All keyboards, computers, doors, pens and materials that are considered "high touch" will be sanitized and disinfected each evening via our cleaning company.
  • Special attention will be given to give special care to our tables, restrooms, and doors to keep any spread of germs at bay.
  • JA will work with our teachers to ensure that a student who is clearly ill will not be able to attend the school's trip to our facility.
