JA It's My Future at Teague Middle School

About

JACF is looking for individuals to serve as weekly classroom  volunteers at Teague Middle School in Altamonte Springs, FL. Five  volunteers are needed to teach the JA It's My Future program once a week for 6 weeks on all dates listed and at time slot chosen by the volunteer. Volunteers may work in teams and share the schedule if desired.

Dates

  • Visit 1 (Session 1 / Program Start Date): Friday, February 8, 2019
  • Visit 2 (Session 2): Friday, February 15, 2019
  • Visit 3 (Session 3): Friday, February 22, 2019
  • Visit 4 (Session 4): Friday, March 1, 2019
  • Visit 5 (Session 5): Friday, March 8, 2019
  • Visit 6 (Session 6 / Program End Date): Friday, March 15, 2019

Times

  • 1st period – 9:17 a.m. to 10:04 a.m.
  • 3rd period – 10:59 a.m. to 11:46 a.m.
  • 4th period – 12:20 p.m. to 1:20 p.m.
  • 5th period – 1:24 p.m. to 2:11 p.m.
  • 7th period – 3:06 p.m. to 3:55 p.m.

Work Description

In this program, students learn practical information to help prepare them for the working world. They develop the personal-branding and job-hunting skills needed to earn a job.

JA Traditional Programs at South Seminole Middle School

About

Junior Achievement of Central Florida is looking for individuals to serve as classroom volunteers at South Seminole Middle School in Casselberry, FL. 14 volunteers are needed to teach a program once a week for 6 or 7 weeks on all dates listed at time slot chosen by the volunteer. Volunteers may work in teams and share the schedule if desired.

  • Visit 1 (Session 1): Monday, February 25, 2019 (Program Start Date for All Programs)
  • Visit 2 (Session 2): Monday, March 4, 2019
  • Visit 3 (Session 3): Monday, March 11, 2019
  • Visit 4 (Session 4): Monday, March 25, 2019
  • Visit 5 (Session 5): Monday, April 1, 2019

JACF is providing three (3) different programs at SSMS this spring.

Program 1 - JA It's My Future

In this program, students explore potential careers, discover ways to plan for and keep a job, and prepare their personal-brand maps to the future. Learn more about JA It's My Future

Program 2. JA Global Marketplace

Like your sneakers? They're made in China with rubber from Brazil, cotton from India, color die from Vietnam, and recycled plastic from Honduras. Such practical examples show students how goods flow in the world economy and the effect globalization has on their lives. Learn more about JA Global Marketplace

Grade Level: 6-8

Program 3 - JA Be Entrepreneurial

In this program, students learn the essential elements of a practical business plan, inspiring them to take action and consider starting an entrepreneurial venture while still in middle school.

JA Career Success at Crooms Academy of Information Technology

About

JACF is looking for individuals to serve as classroom volunteers at Crooms Academy of Information Technology in Sanford, FL.

Dates

  • Visit 1 (Sessions 1 and 2 are both delivered the same day): Wednesday, March 27, 2019
  • Visit 2 (Session 3): Friday, April 5, 2019
  • Visit 3 (Session 4): Friday, April 12, 2019
  • Visit 4 (Session 5): Friday, April 19, 2019
  • Visit 5 (Sessions 6 and 7 are both delivered the same day): Wednesday, April 24, 2019

Time

Two 90-minute sessions and Three 60-minute sessions on dates listed above.

Work Description

In this traditional program, students are equipped with the tools and skills required to earn and keep a job in high-growth career industries. They focus on developing the 4Cs – critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.

JA Finance Park Virtual

About

JACF is looking for volunteers to serve as guest speakers in 12th grade classrooms through our partnership with Osceola and Orange County Public Schools. FPV provides the supplemental curriculum that satisfies the required personal financial literacy component embedded in 12th grade Economics with Financial Literacy courses. The program teaches important financial and life skills, with volunteer topics including Paying for Postsecondary Education and Identity Theft.

Dates

Osceola County:

  • Thursday, February 7, 2019 – Topic: Ways to Pay for Postsecondary Education

Orange County:

  • Tuesday, February 12, 2019 – Topic: Ways to Pay for Postsecondary Education

Time

Time slot/s of your choice between 7:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Each class period is about 50 minutes in length; signing up for more than one class is encouraged!

Location

High School of your choice in either Osceola or Orange counties

Work Description

  • A PPT (and notes/script) is provided to you when signing up – no additional training required.
  • We encourage volunteers from all backgrounds and levels of experience to make the presentation their own.
  • Ideal for individuals wanting to make an impact on rising graduates, wanting to hone their presentation skills, or become more at ease with public speaking in general.
  • When you access our online sign-up, you'll be able to download the deck (PowerPoint presentation). Then, you'll choose a specific school and class period(s) that best suit(s) your availability.
