JA BizTown Instructor

We are currently accepting resumes for part-time instructors with our JA BizTown program. JA BizTown is a unique, experiential program for 4-6 grade students focusing on financial literacy, entrepreneurship and critical thinking skills. JA BizTown instructors work with teachers and volunteers to facilitate student experiences at our facility. Instructors will work approximately 50-60 shifts per session from October 2018 through May 2019. Each shift is 6 hours long, mostly during school hours. Instructors will also work several weeks of camp during the summer of 2019 (June 10-14 and June 17-21). Flexibility and dependability are required, and experience with children in an educational setting is preferred.

Junior Achievement (JA) was founded in the US in 1919 by several of the country's most successful business leaders.  Since then, JA has expanded to 122 countries around the world to offer programs that promote student achievement in school and in life. Founded locally in 1950 as one of only nine JA affiliates in Ohio, Junior Achievement of Central Ohio (JACO) has a long history of leadership in the state's education community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement communication and development plans under the direction of the Vice President.

  • Write original content and/or edit pre-written content to create compelling narratives, which include grant applications, cases for support, appeal letters, acknowledgement letters, stewardship materials, sponsorship proposals, and other development and marketing strategy documents.

  • Research, write, review, and submit grant proposals and grantor reports.

  • Write and distribute news releases, PSAs, advertisement copy, and other media materials as appropriate to local/regional media.

  • Write and distribute social media posts, update website copy, and create e-newsletter features.

  • Write and distribute all external communications, including event invitations, brochures, program flyers, rack cards, annual reports, etc.

  • Work with external graphic designer to ensure brand standards are met.

  • Work with printers to ensure marketing materials are delivered on time and on budget.

  • Manage the video and photo library, as well as communication resource center.

  • Collaborates with all members of the JACO team to document stories and quotes to illustrate the impact of the mission.


  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field preferred.

  • Two – Five years experience in communication, public relations, journalism, marketing   and/or grant writing.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and proven experience in fund raising and/or maintaining social media platforms.
