Program Manager

$42,000-$45,000 annually, based on experience

Junior Achievement (JA) of Central Virginia is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preparing students for their futures by connecting them to their community through engaging, standards-aligned programs supported by community partners. This office is one of the 104 Junior Achievement USA local area offices which collectively serve more than 4.6 million students on an annual basis.

To achieve this impact, the Program Manager facilitates student learning experiences as an integral part of the Program team. This position requires a person who can work within a highly collaborative, innovative, solution-driven team, coordinate programmatic initiatives, support program participants, and maintain a positive reputation for Junior Achievement in the local community as we reimagine program implementation post-COVID.

The Program Manager is responsible for the life cycle of several in-person and virtual programs, including outreach, administration, resource development, and management procedures to ensure high quality, efficient program implementation. The Program Manager reports to the Director of Programs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Program Facilitation:
    • Facilitating or assisting in JA Finance Park a portion of the time, an in-person program with up to 100 students (primarily high school)
    • Coordinating multiple in-person and virtual programs
    • Organizing, coordinating, and maintaining program communications
    • Innovating to increase efficiency to best meet community needs
    • Recruiting and training volunteers and teachers
    • Developing, localizing and updating program materials as necessary
    • Soliciting, recording, and incorporating program feedback
  • Technology Support:
    • Serving as tech support for participants in virtual programs
    • Maintaining database entries, analyzing data, and creating reports (CRM, Excel, Google Analytics, Power BI, etc.)
    • Managing program materials and technology (program kits, tablets, Google Sites, etc.)
    • Troubleshooting basic computer problems
    • Editing and producing videos (using Camtasia or similar software)
  • Administrative duties and other program support as needed

The successful candidate will be task-focused, self-directed, collaborative, and have the ability to learn quickly and develop creative solutions in a team-based environment. They should be able to manage multiple projects at once and have strong communication and organizational skills to maintain program impact and constituent relationships. The right person will be mission-driven, flexible, and innovative to respond to the ever-changing needs of school systems across Central Virginia.

The work schedule is 9-5, Monday through Friday, though hours shift up to two hours earlier based on program needs, typically during the school year. There may be some options to work remotely a portion of the week.

Executive Support Manager

$47,000 annually

Junior Achievement of Central Virginia's Executive Support Manager is responsible for managing the schedule and communications of the organization's president; performing administrative and office management duties; and supporting the board of directors. The person in this role oversees confidential and time-sensitive material and must rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Administrative and Executive Support
    • Provide administrative support to president
    • Maintain president's calendar; Arrange and confirm meetings
    • Provide president with necessary materials for all meetings
    • Coordinate and schedule travel
    • Provide board and committee support
      • Procure meeting locations and catering; Coordinate meeting logistics; Draft meeting agendas; Coordinate presentation materials; Record meeting minutes
      • Maintain board roster and data
      • Complete board reports
  • Office Management
    • Serve as front office administrator – answer phones, greet and assist office visitors, manage master calendar, manage general office email and voicemail, order office supplies and maintain files
    • Update and add data in the customer relationship management system
    • Maintain office supplies and coordinate maintenance of office equipment
    • Serve as liaison for IT and other vendors
    • Evaluate office procedures and operations and implement efficiencies
    • Serve as support at special events
    • Coordinate and oversee third party use of off-site facility

Qualified candidates should have the following:

  • Experience in administrative office and/or executive support
  • Ability to make independent decisions and implement efficiencies
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Organizational, prioritization, time management, and planning skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Data entry and management experience
  • Collaborative and communicative disposition
  • Ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team
  • Preferred experience in customer relationship management systems

The successful candidate will be self-directed, collaborative, flexible, and have the ability to learn quickly and develop creative solutions. They should be able to manage multiple projects at once and maintain constituent relationships.

The typical work schedule is 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday, though hours may shift occasionally based on business needs. Temporary remote work may be considered based on external factors.
