JA Scholarships

Junior Achievement of Chicago awards multiple scholarships to deserving high school students. Please click on each scholarship opportunity for details, deadlines, and application instructions. Please note, all applicants are required to have participated in Junior Achievement of Chicago programs.
 
Colonel Henry Crown Scholarships ($60,000)
Applications are due by Friday, April 3, 2020 (Received or Postmarked) – (4) Scholarships Awarded
 
$60,000 Scholarship – ($15,000 a year for a four-year period while pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university of his or her choice)
 
Paid attendance at a summer internship program (3 summers at 10 weeks each) with a Colonel Henry Crown affiliated company or an agency supported by Crown Family Philanthropies. 
 
Eligibility Criteria:
* Must be a high school senior who has an average of "B" or better beginning in your sophomore year
* Must have participated in a Junior Achievement high school program
* Applicants need to submit a completed Colonel Henry Crown Application - and all of its required attachments
*Finalists - will be notified no later than Friday, April 10 and must be available for a 25-minute interview at the Junior Achievement office to determine recipients on Friday, April 17.
*Recipients – must be available Tuesday, May 12, 2020 to receive their award at the Junior Achievement Board of Directors Meeting in Chicago.

  • Eiffel Bayaban of Chicago High School for Agricultural Science in Chicago
  • Jadan Vines of Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor
 
General Scholarships ($1,000 - $5,000)
Deadline – Friday, April 3, 2020 (Received or Postmarked) – Multiple/Various Scholarships Awarded
 
Scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 as a one-time payment to the college or university of your choice.
 
Eligibility Criteria:
* Must be a high school senior who has an average of "B" or better beginning in your sophomore year
* Must have participated in a Junior Achievement program at some point during your academic career (elementary school, middle school or high school)
* General Scholarship recipients are determined utilizing the Colonel Henry Crown Application as well
Please submit a completed Colonel Henry Crown Application - and all of its required attachments
 
High School Heroes Scholarships ($1,000)
Deadline – Friday, April 24, 2020 (Received or Postmarked) – Multiple Scholarships Awarded
 
Eligibility Criteria:
* Must be a high school senior who participated in a High School Heroes event – in which you trained and facilitated a Junior Achievement program in a local elementary school classroom serving as the volunteer
* Applicants need to submit an Application and One-Page Essay detailing their experience
 
Company Program Scholarships ($2,500 - $5,000)
Deadline – Friday, April 24, 2020 (Received or Postmarked) – (1) $5,000 and (1) $2,500 Awarded
 
Eligibility Criteria:
* Must be a high school senior who participated in the JA Company Program as well as the Competition
* Applicants need to submit the Student Scholarship Essay and Application
