Paul Kappel, Jr. – President
Paul Kappel, Jr. has been involved in education for over 26 years. Paul initially joined Junior Achievement with the Georgia office in 1997 as the Middle Grades Education Director. In 1998, he was promoted to the position of Vice President, Education. In 2003, he was recruited to lead the programmatic efforts in the National Capital Area and eventually moved into responsibility for the operations and resource generation efforts as Executive Vice President. His last year of leadership in D.C. resulted in $2.3M raised and 35,000 students served. Paul started as President in the Delaware Valley in August 2007. During his tenure in Philadelphia, JA has received five consecutive Summit Awards for operating excellence, the first in over 10 years. In 2011, Paul brought a long-standing JA tradition to Philadelphia, the JA Business Hall of Fame. In 2014, JA of the Delaware Valley was honored with the organization's first Peak Performance Team Award, the highest honor given to an area office by Junior Achievement USA. The recognition was achieved again in 2016. In 2015 and 2016, he was a finalist for the Charles R. Hook award. Currently, over 34,000 Southeastern Pennsylvania students per year participate in a JA program.
Prior to joining Junior Achievement, he worked for Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania from 1990-1997 in the Student Life department. Paul earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bloomsburg in 1989 and received his Master of Science in Human Resources in 1993 from the University of Scranton. Paul resides in Downingtown, PA with his wife and two children.
Laura Yohe – Program Director
Laura joined the JA Worldwide network as the Development Manager of the National Capital Area office in 2003 and then became the District Director for the new Montgomery County, Maryland office in 2006. Since joining the Philadelphia office in 2007, she has conducted fundraising and special events as well as managed local program operations. Today, Laura is responsible for Junior Achievement's K-12 program initiatives in the Philadelphia Region.
A native of the Greater Washington DC, Laura has more than thirteen years of experience in the non-profit industry. Upon graduating from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science, Laura supported the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation as a clerk in human resources and accounting. Prior to working for Junior Achievement, Laura developed community partnerships and managed the individual giving campaign for a branch of the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington as the Assistant Fundraising and Community Development Director.
Robin Olson – Development Director
Robin Olson has been in non-profit fundraising since 2004, focusing on children's charities and medical research. She joined Junior Achievement in April of 2017 to serve as Director of Development. Prior to JA, the majority of Robin's fundraising experience has been with Make-A-Wish, both the local Philadelphia area chapter and the national organization in Phoenix, Arizona. She has raised millions of philanthropic dollars in support of medical research and children's charities. She is a native of St. Louis but has lived in various parts of the mid-west and southwest prior to moving to Philadelphia.
She is a graduate of Saint Louis University, earning bachelor's degrees in English and Marketing as well as an Executive Master's of Business Administration from Saint Joseph's University. She lives in Lansdale, PA with her husband and three daughters.
