JA Career Fair

About JA Career Fair Programs

Career Fair
JA Career Fairs help bring employers and industry leaders to middle and high school students.

What is the role of the volunteer?

Volunteers are needed to share their career and industry experience and to help coach students to follow a path that will lead to individual economic success. As a volunteer, you will inspire and prepare young people for their futures and help youth avoid the financial pitfalls so many adults currently face.

What is my time commitment?

  • Career Fair
Events typically last 2 to 3 hours and are hosted at a school or community location

What Is the Role of the Teacher?

Teachers will lead three classroom sessions using Focus on the Future curriculum for middle school and Start With the End in Mind curriculum for high school students.

What Is JA Staff's Role?

JA staff coordinates material delivery with the teacher and works to find industry representatives for the career fair event.

Following participation in the program, students will be able to:

  • Recognize career clusters and potential job positions and understand the  importance of researching the  requirements needed to earn a position
  • Develop job-hunting tools, such as networking, resumes, and interviewing skills
  • Identify the next steps needed in their personal  career preparation
