Capitol Federal Takes Home Top Prize at Inaugural JA Golf Classic
10/12/18 4:20 PM - The inaugural JA Golf Classic, sponsored by Capitol Federal, took place at the Wichita Country Club on Monday October 8, 2018. Despite an overcast day, 60 golfers came out to the historic course to support Junior Achievement.
The day began with registration and a continental breakfast. Golfers received a $100 voucher to use at the Titleist pop up shop before teeing off with shotgun start at 10:00am. Throughout the 18 hole course, golfers were treated to unbeatable views, on course lunch service, and competition holes including Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, & Longest Putt.
The day concluded with a 19th Hole Reception and awards presentation. Presidenting Sponsor Capitol Federal shared a video showcasing an initiative that ties in with Junior Achievement's three pillars of financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship. The third place winners were Frank Bayer & Brandon Burgardt with a score of 65. Golfing a 63 and taking home 2nd place was Pete Krsnich, Khol Nanney, Drew Pippe, & Brian Stockton. The Capitol Federal team of HD Cartwright, Joe Strunk, Jared McKay, & Chris Carpenter took home the top prize with a score of 62. The awards were made by high school students from Chaparral High School.
