JA Completes Two Day Blitz Programming at French Middle School
11/7/18 6:26 PM - Monday Novermber 5 and Wednesday November 7 saw over 20 business volunteers take over French Middle School in Topeka, Kansas, for Junior Achievement's "JA in 2" program. JA reached 100% of the student base, over 450 students, over the two day blitz program. Volunteers taught all three middle school JA programs: Global Marketplace, Economics for Success, & It's My Future. Normally six sessions spread over as many weeks, the sessions were given in two days at the middle school. Skills learned in these programs include global trade, tariff systems, and how international economies work with eachother, economic & budgeting principles, career mapping, resume building, & soft skills.
Tammy Casteen, JA Topeka Programming Director, said the following: "Today we completed our annual JA in 2 sessions at French Middle School! On two mornings each fall, 24 business community volunteers share concepts from JA middle school programming to help the students learn about how to earn and handle money well, how to identify their talents and interests and turn these passions into a career they will love, how to be ready to join the workforce and compete in today's global economy, and maybe even start their own business someday. Thank you to all of our awesome volunteers and to the staff and teachers of French Middle School who partner so well with JA to make this happen!"
