"It's like we are big kids doing big kid things"

4th Annual Maine Business Hall of Fame North Brings Local Students to the Stage

Mt. View Elementary School 5th graders are geared up and ready for the Maine Business Hall of Fame this Thursday, November 1. Four students from the school will share what they have learned throughout their Junior Achievement program "JA Our Nation" to the crowd of over 200 local business and community leaders. They came up with their own speeches and have been practicing for weeks leading up to the big day.

"We get to be at an event with all those grown ups? Woah... it's like we are big kids doing big kid things!" - Aden, 5th grade JA student

The students and their classmates have spent the last few weeks with their volunteer from Bank of America, playing games and activities to help them learn about business. "JA Our Nation" provides practical information about the need for employees who can meet the demands of the 21st century job market, particularly high-growth, high-demand jobs. By program's end, students understand the skills, especially in science, technology, engineering, and math, that will make their futures brighter.

The Maine Business Hall of Fame event will honor three outstanding community leaders from Central, Eastern, & Northern Maine this Thursday including Jack Quirk of Quirk Auto Group, Laurie Lachance of Thomas College, and Gregory Dufour of Camden National Bank.

Special thank you to our sponsors for the event, without their support we would not be able to reach nearly 14,000 students statewide to prepare them for their futures.
