JA of Maine Titan Challenge

JA of MAINE Titan ChallengeWhen: Wednesday, February 26th, 2020

What is the Titan Challenge?

The Titan Challenge is a day-long business strategy competition for high school students. Teams of three students work with a mentor from the business community to guide a fledgling company through the ups and downs of the market. The Titan Challenge draws on a number of skills each team member will need to become a meaningful contributor in tomorrow's workforce: creativity, finance, collaboration, strategy, leadership, and more.

2019 Statewide Sponsor:

High schools throughout Maine can participate. The event takes place during school hours on college campuses across the state. During simulated business quarters, students decide on price, production, marketing, research and development, and charitable giving. These choices will lead to success or failure for their virtual company.

The Titan Challenge is an immersive peek into the business world. Students make meaningful connections with their business mentors and get a glimpse into the C-suite before they leave high school. They tour a college campus and learn about undergraduate business programs and the importance of higher education.

2019 Hosts:

Bangor Savings Bank, Bangor

IDEXX Laboratories, Inc., Westbrook

Machias Savings Bank, Machias

Thomas College, Waterville

Tyler Technologies, Yarmouth

 University of New England, Biddeford

University of Maine, Presque Isle

Want to get involved in the 2020 Titan Challenge?

Ask a teacher or a school administrator if your high school participates. You can even start practicing for the competition before the event: visit titanpublic.ja.org/, click on the 3.0 public version, and create a username and password to play against the computer.

Please complete our online pre-registration form to reserve your spot. There is no cost for attending and lunch is provided. However, transportation to and from the event is your responsibility. Each school can bring up to five teams (15 students).

The deadline to pre-register is Friday, January 17th, 2020.

We are always looking for members of the business community to collaborate with our students. Volunteers need to be available from 8:15am-2:15pm on the day of the challenge (Wednesday, February 26th, 2020).

Register as a mentor by filling out our Volunteer Form.
