Junior Achievement is pleased to announce its 6th annual Youth Summit for Future Entrepreneurs, which will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the Hagerty Center in Traverse City from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Participation in the summit will inspire young people to build a foundation of skills, knowledge, and interest to help them own their economic success. All youth attending school in northern Michigan are encouraged to participate.

The 2018 keynote speaker will be Fernando Meza, CEO of OneUpWeb. Recognized as one of the region's "40 Most Influential People Under 40", Fernando Meza prides himself in finding solutions that add value to customers. OneUpWeb has been recognized by Advertising Age as one of the top search marketing agencies and was named to the Corps! Magazine "Best of Michigan Business" list. OneUpWeb was awarded gold at the BMAs and is an AVA platinum award winner for website redesign. Meza describes himself as a "brand strategy guy" who also likes to "write, plan, and distill big ideas into actionable steps."

Junior Achievement of Northwest Michigan is known for creating experiential learning activities that are relevant in the real world. Participating students will be engaged in real work experiences throughout the day. After forming work teams that include an adult mentor, they will be presented with a business challenge. They will work on that challenge throughout the day and present their ideas to a panel of judges at the end of the event.

Student Teams Will:
• Recognize characteristics and practices of successful entrepreneurs
• Formulate and evaluate an entrepreneurial idea based on product, customer, and competitive advantage criteria
• Demonstrate business-planning skills of marketing, financing, management, and ethical decision-making
• Be exposed to and discuss leadership styles within teams
• Present their ideas and solutions to a panel of judges
• Celebrate! Awards will be presented to the top student team
