Dr. Alice Wilder, an award-winning expert on childhood learning (Blue's Clues, Super Why, Cha-Ching, Speakaboos, and Amazon Kids original programming), consulted on the program's redevelopment.
JA Our Region is an interdisciplinary program that introduces fourth-grade students to entrepreneurship and upper elementary grade social studies learning objectives, including regions, resources, supply chains, and problem-solving. The program provides students with a practical approach to starting a business while preparing them to be entrepreneurial in their thinking to meet the requirements of a demanding and ever-changing workforce.
JA Our Nation introduces fifth-grade students to the intersection of work readiness and upper elementary grades social studies learning objectives. Through hands-on classroom activities, the program provides students with practical information about the nation's free market system and how it serves as an economic engine for businesses and careers. The curriculum also introduces the need for entrepreneurial and innovative thinking to meet the requirements of high-growth, high-demand careers and the concept of globalization in business.
JA It's My Business! encourages students to use entrepreneurial thinking as they explore higher education and career choices. Students participate in fun, challenging activities such as an entrepreneurial quiz game, completing a blueprint for a teen club, participating in an auction of businesses, and creating entrepreneur profile cards.
JA Global Marketplace gives students an opportunity to experience the impact and importance of international business by playing the role of business owners and managers. Through completion of the program, students will gain an understanding of producers and consumers in the interconnected global market. They will analyze the similarities and differences among countries and the effects of free enterprise.
JA It's My Future provides practical information about preparing for the working world. Students learn about career clusters, high-growth jobs, career planning, and creating a personal brand. The curriuculum also provides skills and resources that the students will need to research potential careers, create a basic resume, recognize appropratie behavior for a job interview and differentiate between soft and technical skills.
JA Personal Finance® - 9th-12th Grade
JA Personal Finance introduces students to the of making wise financial decisions and demonstrates the importance of planning, goal-setting, and thoughtful decision-making within the context of personal financial decisions. At the conclusion of this program, students will be able to identify how their personal finances affect their quality of life. They will understand how their financial choices will be the basis of how they want and need.
JA Company Program provides students an opportunity to fill a need or solve a problem in their community by launching their own start-up business, unleashing their entrepreneurial spirit. The program utilizes both original and curated content. Meeting-specific, student-friendly materials enable students to identify the key elements of organizing and operating a business and to consider creating their own start-up business.
