About Your Role in JA BizTown

About your role in JA BizTown

JA BizTown provides students with an environment in which they can apply their classroom learning to concrete examples, and transform that experience into lasting knowledge. Students are actively engaged in posing questions, investigating, expressing curiosity, solving problems, assuming responsibility, and constructing meaning. Experiential learning may look like play when compared to traditional classrooms; however, close observation and practice soon helps volunteers distinguish the difference.

Throughout the simulation, you will:

  • Work at one JA BizTown business, assisting a group of 4-10 students.
  • Help ensure the safety and security of the students.
  • Read and follow posted business directions and assist students in staying on task.
  • Allow students to do their own work and encourage them to do their best. You are their cheerleader and coach, keeping them on track and helping them make learning connections.
