Junior Achievement of Northern California LEADERSHIP

Cristene Burr

Cristene Burr – President

Cristene joins JA with a passion for youth education and opportunity. With a common theme of education leadership running throughout her career, she spent nearly a decade running a local education non-profit in the San Ramon Valley, raising $8 million dollars a year and serving more than 33,000 students. Her partnerships with global corporations like Chevron and Workday helped shape the direction and influence of this non-profit's impact on K-12 students; something she plans to do at JA as well!
Cristene is a graduate of The University of California, Davis with a degree in Communication.

Heather Small

Heather Small – Vice President of Development

As VP of Development, and part of our senior leadership, Heather provides strategy to advance JA's mission. She guides our Development Department to drive revenue results by building donor, foundation and corporation relationships to ensure we grow JA's sustainability for the benefit of serving JA's 90,000 students and 400+ schools across Northern and Central California. Heather brings to JA, a decade of non-profit fundraising through grant writing and event planning, focused on improving life opportunities for youth through quality education.

As a JA alum, Heather experienced how JA brings financial life lessons alive. This was impactful and long-lasting. It is a pleasure now, to demonstrate how JA improves student's lives, by helping them get to college or a career path because they experienced a JA program or JA volunteer who changed their life.

Heather is a graduate of the University of the Pacific with a B.A. in Business Psychology and Broadcast Communications
