Meet Stephen Burslem, Program Manager for Northside and Downtown
Where are you from?
Born in Delaware, grew up in Georgia & Connecticut, and now I’m 5 years into living in Jacksonville!
How did you get started with Junior Achievement?
Via the NonProfit Center website. All my previous jobs were in education so I knew I wanted to continue in that path.
What would you say to someone who's considering getting involved with JA?
Try volunteering in various grade levels. There’s such a benefit interacting with different ages and our programs are filled with fun activities.
What's your favorite thing about JA?
Being the bridge between students and working professionals. One of my favorite feelings is seeing a volunteer come alive in the classroom.
General Update on Life in Social Distancing
It’s been quite the adjustment with social distancing. Instead of going to the office or schools, we’ve been working from our homes for over a month. I’ve found it beneficial to still wear my work clothes to stay in a productive mindset. While this time has certainly brought a change, I’ve enjoyed problem-solving with my co-workers in transitioning our resources to online.
