New High School Initiative:  JA Girl$ at Work
Studies show that women feel significantly less confident in making financial decisions, entering STEM related fields, and advancing to leadership roles in many high demand careers than their male counterparts.  60 girls will participate in JA Girl$ at Work to gain the empowerment they need from women in our community.

Interested in launching our program in October?  You can visit a local high school to share about your career trajectory and connect with a group of participants!  School participating are:

• Raines
• Ribault
• Westside
• Frank H. Peterson

If your organization is interested in hosting all 60 of the participants for a day of JA programming work readiness programming and a JA Job Shadow of your location in February, please contact Carly Norton or call 904-398-9944 x225.

Special Event Save the Date: DNA Unique Event with the Police Athletic League
Female professionals and entrepreneurs needed!

Each year, the Police Athletic League (PAL) throws the DNA Unique event, an all-girl slumber party for ages 10-16. This initiative helps young girls understand that they are worthy –when girls feel confident about their worth, they feel confident to love who they are, embrace their uniqueness, and fulfill their life's dreams. DNA stands for Dream Big, Navigate through life's challenges and Achieve your Ambitions.

This year, JA Girl$ will plan the programming to help girls understand that their ideas have value and can be turned into entrepreneurial endeavors!  Girls will learn what an entrepreneur is, meet real entrepreneur women in their community, and work in groups to create and market their own company!

The event will be held on the night of December 6th from 6:00pm-8:00am on December 7th.  Tentative programming will take place from 8:30pm-11:45pm.

Calling all women entrepreneurs!  We are seeking women who can speak with the girls about their professional careers, then serve as mentors to groups as they create their mini business plans.  It's going to be a blast!  More info on the event here.
