Mayor Geno Martini – 24th Mayor of Sparks
In July 1999 Mr. Martini was appointed to Sparks City Council to complete an unexpired term representing Ward 3. He was elected Mayor Pro Tempore by the City Council in July 2003 and served in that capacity until February 2005, when he was sworn in as mayor. He was elected to full terms in 2006, 2010, and 2014 and is currently the longest serving mayor of Sparks. Under Mayor Martini's tenure, the city has seen an additional one million square feet of retail business space open. He has guided the city during the highest growth periods ever, and through the most tumultuous economic challenges.
Mayor Martini serves as Director on the boards of the Truckee Meadows Water Authority, the Nevada League of Cities and Municipalities, and the Truckee River Flood Management Authority. Mayor Martini has recieved many awards and accolades, most recently the 2016 Public Official of the Year award from the Nevada League of Cities and Municipalities. Geno is active in many civic organizations including the Board of Governors of Northern Nevada Medical Center and past president of the Sparks Chamber of Commerce.
John P. Sande III – Director at at Fennimore Craig
John is a graduate of Stanford and Harvard, the former Chair of the Reno Tahoe Open Foundation is actively involved in the Reno-Sparks community including past and present roles as Director of the Reno Air Race Association, founding member of the Montrêux Golf & Country Club Board of Governors, Co-Chair of the KNPB Channel 5 Capital Campaign and a Trustee of the William F. Harrah Automobile Foundation (1979 to 1995). He also served on the Stanford University Athletic Board from 2000-2005.
Sande currently practices law at Fennimore Craig specializing in the areas of Administrative Law and Trusts and Estates. As part of his practice, he appears regularly before the Nevada Legislature. He is General Counsel for the Nevada Bankers Association, a Director for Employers Insurance Group of Nevada and Chairman of the Board for First Independent Bank of Nevada. John was just awarded Best Lawyers in America®, Lawyer of the Year, Government Relations Practice, 2017
