Updates | Junior Achievement of OKI Partners - Cincinnati/Dayton/Richmond - 2016

From the President

It's sad to see the school year coming to an end without the traditional Pomp and Circumstance. We at Junior Achievement send our best wishes to the class of 2020 and trust the lessons learned about personal finance, career readiness, and business take our students forward with confidence.

To the teachers who created virtual classrooms on the fly, and parents who stepped in to make home-based learning happen, our hats are off to you. To our 1,200 volunteers, we truly hope it will be safe to have you back in the classroom next school year.

Like many nonprofits, we continue to work on strategies to address revenue challenges caused by cancelled fundraising events. This Summer will be spent modifying and moving several of our outdoor favorites to the Fall. Our Events page has a list of our schedule to date, with a few new events to be added soon. We will be monitoring conditions and making modifications to comply with all guidelines for distancing and safety. We hope you will be able to join us and perhaps even enjoy the event as a sponsor with our terrific sponsor benefits.

We are also working hard to build our virtual programming and promote those new opportunities to our schools. If you follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, you have seen our team, including volunteers, introducing the new materials. There's a budding social media star or two out there for sure.

Remember, families can use the education material over the Summer to keep math and problem solving skills sharp.

Thank you all for staying in touch with us. We wish you all a safe, productive and fun summer.

Sincerely,

Greg Ebel |President & CEO

Friends of Junior Achievement of OKI Partners,

Given the ever-evolving developments regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), all Junior Achievement student programs, including in-class instruction and job shadow experiences are suspended until such time that public health agencies determine that the spread of the virus has subsided.  As you may already know, school systems in the Junior Achievement of OKI footprint of Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Eastern Indiana and Greater Dayton already have temporarily closed for extended periods the length of which is to be determined.

The program managers for each of our JA OKI districts will reach out to teachers and volunteers who had Junior Achievement programs in progress, or who were planning to initiate programs this spring, to discuss specific action plans relative to those programs.

Additionally, all fundraising events, meetings and and other large group activities that are part of the normal business of JA of OKI between now and May 8th will either be rescheduled or held virtually. If you have registered for an upcoming JA fundraising event, your reservation will be forwarded to the future date and we will contact you as soon as a new date is selected. These events are an important part of assuring we are able to serve students with programs that empower them to own their economic success. We are grateful for your patience as we work to get these events back on the calendar.

This is a trying time for all of us, and it is particularly timely for us to remind you of our deep appreciation for your steadfast support of Junior Achievement.  JA programming indeed is life-changing for many young people, and there are endless testaments to this assertion.  With your continued confidence and support, we will emerge from this crisis.  Should you have any questions or concerns, I encourage you to reach out to your Junior Achievement contact, or call me directly at the number listed below.

My best to you and yours,

Greg Ebel |President & CEO
