Thousands of central Pennsylvania students are able to learn first-hand the opportunities available to them in the free enterprise system. Through Junior Achievement's JA BizTown®, area 5th & 6th grade students are able to become business operators, taxpayers, and consumers in a hands-on learning laboratory.
You as a volunteer will play a key role in this effort.
Each school needs between 14 & 20 volunteers to assist with their visit to JA BizTown. Volunteers attend training before the school arrives and then assist the students in their assigned businesses throughout the 5.0 hour day. Each volunteer receives a volunteer folder as well as support from our JA BizTown staff. Volunteers serve as "business consultants", leading staff meetings, helping the students to read and understand their job directions, and reminding the students to stay on task and focus on their goals
but not perform the students' jobs for them.
Preparing our children to be productive and effective consumers, workers and citizens in our community
is at the core of Junior Achievement's mission.
