Why Junior Achievement?

JA helps students realize that the education they are getting today will help them to have a bright future tomorrow. JA's unique, volunteer-delivered programs show them all of the possibilities that lay before them. They realize they can choose different paths: College? A specific trade? Start their own business?

Through your participation, these statistics can begin to change in our community:

  • 20% of U.S. students will not complete high school on time and earn a diploma.
  • 49% of U.S. employers recognize that talent shortages impact their ability to serve clients and customers.
  • 36% of Americans say that they have, at some point in their lives, felt their financial situation was out of control.
  • 91% of millenials wish they had greater access to entrepreneurial programs.

Junior Achievement of South Central PA is a business-based nonprofit organization with more than 7,000 volunteers and hundreds of corporate and individual sponsors. JA programs are for all students, Kindergarten to Grade 12. This newly merged organization now covers fourteen counties in South Central PA including Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, and York and will reach more than 85,000 students this school year.  In terms of market share, 25% of all students participate in JA programs each year. Additionally, the efficiency of JA programs versus revenue is continually assessed to ensure a high return on investment for donors.

Involvement with Junior Achievement is an investment in your future employees. In a few years, these same students will be employees in your company, residents in your neighborhood, and leaders in our community. Help JA inspire and prepare them now.
