JA Special Events
At JA of Southern Massachusetts, we host several events throughout the year to raise money to support our programming. These events also engage the community in our efforts to reach students! Whether you'd like to get involved on an individual level or as a business through event sponsorship, we offer several ways for you to support our work while having a great time! ANNUAL IRONMAN GOLF TOURNAMENT
Over the years, the IRONMAN Championship has grown into one of New England's premier charity events and has raised over one million dollars to support Junior Achievement's financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship programs across Southern Massachusetts – benefitting more than 40,000 students!
The prestigious IRONMAN Championship, which raises critical funds for local Junior Achievement programs in K-12 classrooms, allows players to have TPC Boston to themselves for a day and compete in a Ryder Cup style format at the world class venue. The day gives IRONMAN players exclusive access to TPC Boston locker rooms, practice facilities and dining facilities. In addition to two rounds of world class golf, participation in the event includes breakfast, lunch and an awards dinner, where prizes are awarded for fundraising excellence and golfing achievement.
IRONMAN players must each raise a minimum of $800 for Junior Achievement programs to participate in the event, and many players raise much more in the quest to be named the IRONMAN of the year. In its second year, there is also an IRONLADY component to the event, which includes 18 holes of championship golf and participation in all dinning and awards ceremonies. Last year, the IRONMAN Championship raised $80,000 for JA programs – and as this is a special anniversary year we are looking to eclipse $100,000 in funds raised in 2017.
4TH ANNUAL JA TITAN BUSINESS CHALLENGE
The Titan Business Challenge is a day-long business strategy competition in which students compete against other high school in teams of three using an online business simulation. Each team is paired with a business mentor from the community who offers guidance during the competition.
STRIKES FOR SUCCESS
Participating in Strikes for Success is a great way for community groups, companies and individuals to support local students while also having fun with colleagues, friends, and family members. Last year, the event raised nearly $21,000 for JA programs, directly supporting nearly 700 local students.
Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts has launched Camp SPARK, a pilot program that focuses on providing 13 and 14 year-old girls with opportunities to explore entrepreneurial thinking and career preparedness.
"Having volunteers in our classroom shows our students that people care about them."
