JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT Program Scope & Sequence
Junior Achievement offers programs for grade levels K through 12. These effective teaching and learning programs focus on the topics of work readiness, financial literacy and entrepreneurship. These concepts help students gain essential life skills that they will need for the future.
JA program delivery can be through different models. These include classroom-based, where a volunteer from the community comes to the school and shares his or her experience with students using JA's research-based and proven programs; blended, where a classroom volunteer uses our digital learning platform to help deliver content; capstone, where students go to an offsite facility, such as JA Finance Park or JA BizTown; or after-school, where students explore entrepreneurship in-depth by starting their own business in the JA Company Program.
To provide an overvew of these programs, the JA Program Scope and Sequence offers a glimpse at the structure of these programs.
The gradually increasing complexity and sequence of JA programs at the elementary school level are evident in the following chart. JA Ourselves®, for example, is the first JA program and is usually offered at the kindergarten level.
The middle grades programs build on lessons the students learned in Junior Achievement's elementary school programs and help teens make difficult decisions about how to best prepare for their educational and professional future.
As students begin to prepare for their lives outside of secondary school, they are exposed to more advanced concepts through JA's high school programs.
