Future leaders, this way forward! JA BizTown Summer Camp is an extension of our popular elementary and middle school program. Young students ages 9-14 will experience a dynamic, hands-on learning simulation where they will work together to run an entire town with actual storefronts! This miniature town comprises a City Hall, a bank, television station, business and insurance office, cafe, and retail shops.

Based on Junior Achievement's three learning pillars of financial literacy, work-readiness, and entrepreneurship, this fun and innovative program brings state-of-the-art experiential learning to inspire and prepare young people for their future life and careers.

Camp Schedule

Monday
Campers explore the businesses and organizations necessary for a functioning community. They will attend a Job Fair, complete job research, participate in interviews, and learn about the JA business where they have been hired.

Tuesday
Campers will focus on learning skills in personal finance by exploring how to manage their money using both savings and checking accounts. They will practice check writing, make deposits to their savings accounts, all in preparation for the JA BizTown simulation later in the week!

Wednesday
Campers will spend the morning creating their business plan and designing ads for ther places of work. They will explore profit margins, how competition drives the price down on goods, and ways to find unique approaches to set their businesses apart in the marketplace.

Thursday
JA BizTown Simulation Day! Campers will put to use all their hard-earned skills and knowledge from the past three days in running their businesses and participating as consumers.

Friday
Campers will spend the morning working together to create a product or service, a business plan, description, logo, slogan, and a marketing plan for their businesses. These ideas will then be presented to our JA "Shark Tank." We will end the afternoon with guest speakers who are successful businessmen and women in our community!
