JA PROGRAM INITIATIVES
Junior Achievement students from area high schools are using their learned presentation and leadership skills by volunteering in Junior Achievement elementary schools classrooms. Two new schools, Derby High School and Bassick High School, became mentor-heroes this year!
Derby, Bethel and Central high schools participated in a workshop that introduced students to creating a thorough and engaging LinkedIn profile, as well as effective strategies for building their personal brand.
High school students became innovators at this one-day event. They learned how to utilize skills such as teamwork, collaboration, critical thinking and brainstorming to develop innovative solutions to today's problems.
"Junior Achievement has given me a sense of what adults go through with budget issues."
"Junior Achievement reinforced concepts for me to remember later in life."
"I thought the experience was amazing. The presentation was unlike anything I've seen."
"I liked how the Junior Achievement volunteer explained his job to us."
