Junior Achievement of Wisconsin, Northwest District Receives Funds from Nordson Corporation

Nordson Corporation grant dollars will help expand Junior Achievement’s JA in a Day to Chippewa Valley 8th grade students.

Eau Claire, WIJunior Achievement (JA) of Wisconsin, Inc. received $15,000 grant dollars from Nordson Corporation to support continued JA efforts to provide programming to local middle school students in Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire. These grant dollars will help JA continue to reach students at three local middle schools as well as expand the programming to other middle schools, especially local rural schools. The Junior Achievement Career Exploration programs equip students by teaching them about work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. The goal is to provide career exploration opportunities throughout our communities.

“Our local committee has a strong commitment to continuing the quality educational opportunities that are available in our area” said Shannon Potts of the Nordson Corporation Wisconsin Community Affairs Committee. “Programs like Junior Achievement fit well within this area of focus and strengthen our local communities. By actively participating in Junior Achievement, students gain knowledge of a variety of career opportunities and skills, helping them to become not only great employees, but self-sufficient members of our society. “

The Nordson Corporation’s investment in Junior Achievement of Northwest Wisconsin will help Junior Achievement provide Career exploration programming to area students as well as help area schools in their efforts to meet Department of Public Instruction mandates that expect all middle school students to have a career plan and access to career exploration.

“JA programs help prepare our young people for the ‘real’ world by bringing in a business volunteer to show them how to make money, manage their finances and how to create jobs which makes our communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking at work." said Junior Achievement Director, Susan Peterson.
