Junior Achievement Michael E. Batten Memorial Scholarship

This annual award is offered to the most deserving applicants who are seniors in high school anywhere in Racine County. Each will receive $1,000 toward any education beyond high school in the form of a scholarship.

Volunteerism and community service are essential to JA and were of great importance to Michael E. Batten. We believe that community service develops leadership skills, prepares individuals for success beyond high school, and leaves a positive impact for all involved. Batten led Junior Achievement as a volunteer and Chair for more than two decades in addition to leading Twin Disc, Inc. as well as many other local causes.

Michael E. Batten was a believer in Racine. His loved ones and Junior Achievement wish to leave an enduring legacy to the students who are the future leaders of the community. Each recipient of this award will have proven leadership skills with defined outcomes, demonstrate entrepreneurship, good character, poise and conduct.

Applications are judged anonymously by a committee of community volunteers. Applications for 2019 will be available Fall 2018.
